Genuine

Years ago,

I had a laugh

A laugh that was

Sincere

Happy

Joyous

Playful

But…

then it was gone.

Yes I would still laugh

I knew though that it wasn’t the same.

I knew it was always half

Of what I wanted it to be.

For two years

I didn’t realize it was gone

The genuine laugh

That came with it, a genuine smile.

Now it’s back.

I didn’t even know it was gone

Until I felt the energy rush

Through my body

Through my veins

Through my heart

My fingertips

It was back

I was back

And I want it to stay,

The happiness

The joy

The rush of energy,

For as long as it can.
