So my mom recently heard about this gallon of water a day challenge and told me she was going to try it. I have been trying to drink more water lately, so I decided to give it a go too. I’ve always thought I drink a lot of water but after drinking a gallon a day for just one day, boy was I wrong!
(We used actual gallons for a day too. They were pretty heavy!)
In general, I’d say I drink at least two bottles of water a day, depending on the day, and always have a full glass or bottle on my night stand. Sometimes I add lemon juice or other fruits.
I even have a water bottle with an attachable in infuser, so I can put fruit in there to add flavor to my water. It’s glass, so I can add essential oils such as the citrus or lemon ones too! I ordered it from Amazon about a year ago, and they’re sold out. There are so many others similar to it though, so definitely check Amazon if you’re interested!
Looking back, I realize how fortunate I am to have had a family that realized the importance of drinking water since I was little. I remember going to friends’ houses and they would think it was so weird if I asked to have a glass of water instead of milk or juice with my meal.
We just started the challenge and I’ll be sure to keep you updated! I’m hoping to be able to do it for about a week straight. I’m not sure how long you’d have to do it in order to see drastic results. I expect to see changes in my overall skin health. I hope it increases my energy as well. I recently stopped drinking coffee, so I need all the energy I can get!
I won’t drink a gallon a day forever, but I hope doing a gallon for a few days will encourage me to keep increasing how much water I drink in an average day.
It wasn’t too hard yesterday, since it was a weekend. My mom drank right out of a gallon of water, and I poured a gallon into multiple Camelbacks. (It equaled about five of those.) We were home all day with two of the kids my aunt is a nanny for, so we were able to have our bottles with us all day. I’m curious how I’ll do once I start working! I was able to drink about 4 of the bottles during the day. We started keeping track at 11:30 am, and I went to bed at 11 pm so I was able to do it within that time! I took the last sip of my last bottle with my vitamins before falling asleep, like I planned it out perfectly.
This week will definitely be a stressful week of packing and moving to a new place, but I hope I’m able to keep up with the gallons of water I’ll be drinking. The water will help to keep me hydrated making trips from car to apartment all week, so I think this was good planning!
*This will be my own version of the gallon challenge. So don’t expect me to follow whatever generic rules come with the challenge. 🙂
How many days do you think I’ll make it? Have you tried this before? Let me know and I would love it if you subscribed, and I think you’d love it too!
